Chelsea set to replace Sarri with former Real Madrid manager

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a move for former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri.

Real Madrid icon Zinedine Zidane is seen as a leading candidate to be Chelsea's next manager
Frenchman Zidane has been out of work since stepping down from his role with Real after winning a third straight Champions League crown last May. Sarri, fresh from seeing his side thrashed 6-0 at Manchester City, is odds-on with bookmakers to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post, while Zidane is the joint-favourite to replace him along with Gianfranco Zola.

Maurizio Sarri's future is in the balance after Chelsea lost 6-0 at Manchester City on Sunday
Chelsea’s emphatic defeat at City saw them slump to sixth place and The Sun claims that the Italian is running out of backers among the Stamford Bridge hierarchy. The newspaper reports that talks have taken place among top brass at Chelsea about when they should make their move for Zidane.

Zidane left his last job as Real manager after winning three consecutive European crowns
It is not just form that is troubling Chelsea fans and board members right now. The future of star player Eden Hazard is also a serious concern, with the Belgian in the final 18 months of his contract and seemingly keen on a move to Real. But Hazard is a big admirer of Zidane and it is suggested that the 46-year-old could be the key to persuading him to extend his stay in west London.

Eden Hazard's contract is due to expire in the summer of 2020 and he's been linked with Real
Hazard has been at Chelsea since joining them from Lille in 2012. He has won two Premier League crowns, one FA Cup, one League Cup and one Europa League.
